Make Your Breakfast Super with Quaker Oatsilog

Alarm goes off. You scramble out of bed. Go to the bathroom. Make your way to the kitchen. And as if on autopilot, breakfast staples which don’t require any cooking start coming out of their hiding places.

In a mad rush to get out of the house, you eat what’s fast and convenient without putting much thought on the nutritional content. Why then should you put an effort into serving a healthy a.m fare? Not only can we perform better on the job but eating breakfast supports various functions in our body. It wasn’t called the important meal of the day for nothing.

Quaker Oats makes it easy for us to whip up a quick breakfast which is both filling and nutritious by incorporating oats into our favorite breakfast meals.

At a Quaker Oats event recently held at the Essential Goodness, moms were introduced to two new Oatsilog recipes which are the (1) Adobo Sardine and (2) Chicken and Mushroom.

The oatsilog is the Pinoy version of omelette with oats. It is actually a recipe created by Kay Paras, Quaker Oats Marketing Manager. “One of the things that Filipinos love is silog so we created our version of a silog meal that is fast and easy to make to give you time to get ready for work and make your kids baon for school,” Kay said.

She added that quaker oats being a super grain contains a soluble fiber which helps slow the absorption of sugar and help improve blood sugar levels.

Did you know that high fiber food such as those which contains oats tend to be more filling to give you energy to jumpstart your day.

Don’t we all love our meals with rice? But rice makes us too full and heavy. With the oatsilog, we can still enjoy a filling meal which would make us feel just the right kind of full.

Celebrity mom Xandra Rocha showed us how quick and easy the recipes are. She even came up with her own recipe, the Oatilla de Patata which was a hit with her kids.

Hi guys! Here’s the @quakeroatsph recipe I promised to post from the #QuakerOatsilog event. (Thank you @kervinluy for taking these photos!) I was scrambling to come up with a quick snack for the house and just made use of ingredients I had at the moment. I ended up just making a version of tortilla de patata but adding oats to it for added fiber, texture, and fluffiness! Happy to report it turned out yummy and wiped out! Now it’s your turn! Share your recipe for a chance to win some quaker goodies! Try it for yourself and follow @quakeroatsph and tag #QuakerOatsilog Oatilla de Patata (haha can’t think of a name) 2 tbsp Oats 2 eggs 1/4 cup cooked bacon or chorizo (minced or sliced in small cubes) 1/2 cup cubed cooked potatoes 1/4 cup thinly sliced white onion 4 tbsp milk 1/2 tsp butter 2 tbsp grated manchego cheese (can substitute with cream cheese. Totally different taste but most people know cream cheese more) Spanish paprika Pepper Salt Procedure: * coat small Pyrex with butter * Whisk together eggs, milk, oats, salt, pepper, paprika. Set aside * Place onion, potatoes, bacon in mini Pyrex. * Pour egg and oat mixture on top. * Sprinkle cheese on top. * Microwave at 1 minute intervals until cooked. (This took me 3mins) (you could cook this in a pan or in the oven which I actually prefer, but I wanted to show you guys how quick it is to make if you only have a few mins.)

Overnight Oats, the classic oatmeal/porridge, oatmeal cookies etc. . . I've tried almost every recipe there is but #QuakerOatsilog! Now, that's something really different. Turns out there are more recipes out there which make use of this super grain to make your breakfast choices healthier and easier to prep. . . These recipes @mom.atlast and I got to cook ourselves as you don't need to be a pro in the kitchen – you can even use your good, old microwave! . . Recipes + nutritional value, photos and what went on while trying not to burn things up next on the blog (because coming up with a blog entry doesn't take two minutes unlike the #QuakerOatsilog). Teehee. Have a nice weekend, folks! PS: Enjoyed my time here with @mom.atlast. Who knew this would be our last event together before #ExpectingAxis. I'm going to miss you! Until then, there's the B hive. Just feed me siomai. . . . 📷 @kervinluy Swipe for photos
